Specters of the Internet
Ongoing Paranormal Investigations and Cybernetic Séances
In collaboration with Lena-Maria Stupitzky
At Pinakothek der Moderne (Pavillon333) and Deutsches Museum Munich (Festival der Zukunft) in 2023

Information technologies have always been accompanied by supernatural phenomena. With the patent of Morse code and the telegraph system's establishment, the deceased began communicating via binary knocking. Today, we believe in artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies - Superstition and the esoteric are a central part of the UX (user experience) of digital worlds. The Internet itself is haunted by lost futures and incompatible utopias.
As paranormal investigators, we dedicate ourselves to those lost networks and virtual specters. Let us guide you through Styx and Stack...
Digital Hauntology - an Installation
Inspired by eclectic ghost-hunting instruments (ranging from emf-detectors to robotic teddy bears) our paranormal investigation tools help you to feel invisible fields, collect the energies of distant server farms, and summon subaltern AI-systems. Accompanied by a séance-video, we assembled these tools as an interactive installation, which was exhibited at a specifically haunted site at the monastery Fürstenfeld in 2023. The work was awarded the "Kunst Förderpreis" of Fürstenfeldbruck.
Cybernetic Séances
In performative sessions, we invite the audience to delve into the shadow worlds of digital technologies. Together, we sound electromagnetic fields, search for each other uncanny data transmissions, and navigate through lost networks. In 2023, we held séances Festival der Zukunft (Deutsches Museum, Munich) and Pinakothek der Moderne (Pavillon333, Munich).
