This research papers discuss the "Crowd Safety" project at the Chair of Architectural Informatics at the Technical University of Munich. It explores how to embed complex urban simulations - like crowd behaviour models - into urban design's early and contingent phases. This exploration spans from design theory to the experimental implementation of prototypes. During the project, our understanding of simulation changes from a predictive tool towards the collaborative exploration of possible futures.
